AdGuard is an application that allows you to simultaneously block the ads you want using different filters. No annoying ad issues and a seamless experience. Root your device and use Adaway. It’s 100 times better than Adguard as it doesn’t run on the background all the times, doesn’t create a VPN, doesn’t put burden on system, doesn’t slow down internet speed or doesn’t consume battery. Because unlike Adguard which blocks ads by creating a local VPN and making all data pass through it, Adaway just modifies the host file and block ad sources, means no pressure on system or no VPN on the background. I used almost all ad blockes starting from Adguard premium, Blokada, DNS66, Adblocker Plus, Minminguard, Adblocker reborn, MOAB, Unified Ad Blocker. But none of them come close to Adaway.

AdAway – is, really, a great and very simple way to block ad networks’ domains. What can be easier? You just tell the system that the ad domain is located in a place it can’t reach so that all attempts to get to it end up in failure. AdAway does it with the help of a special file called ‘hosts’ – many of you, probably, know about it. This file contains a list that matches server names with addresses the system should use to reach a particular server.
This method, undoubtedly, possesses some advantages:
Simplicity. All you need to do – substitute the contents of one file. As simple as it can be.
Easy to implement. All that the app should do is to update the contents of hosts file from time to time. The system will do all the job itself.
There are drawbacks too, of course: ????????
Lack of flexibility. You have no way to manage the blocking. If a domain is blocked – it’s blocked, you can’t change it. Why does it matter? Sometimes blocking of an ad network leads to breaking the functionality of this or that app or website, and you can do nothing about it.
Roughness. Imagine that ads are loaded not from the ad network server, but from a server that is also being used for other purposes. What to do in such case? And these cases are far from being unique. A good example is Facebook ad network (don’t be tricked by its name – it is used by thousands of different apps). If you want to get rid of such ads with the hosts file, you’ll need to forget about using Facebook apps.
Limitations of such approach. Not all ads can be blocked like this. For example, you can’t eliminate Google ads without so-called cosmetic rules which ‘hide’ the banners.
Do some research before copy-pasting posts from internet. A VPN consumes 1% of battery? Which world do you live in? Second, you didn’t answer my question regarding slow internet speed (it is proven VPN slows down internet). Finally, there is a difference between theory and practicality. You have either never tried Adaway or don’t know how to use it in a proper way. And stop copy-pasting catchy post from Adguard website. I can show you thousands of such websites which tells you the difference between using a host based ad blocker VS a VPN based ad blocker. Your comment show how blindly you follow whatever people tell you without even trying for yourself.

also, ultrasurf, adgurd, stopad, are battery drainer. – even more than the screen consume.
I keep getting my whole internet connection blocked with adguard running, only disabling it makes Internet run properly again. Why is that and is there a solution for this?

More functions not working in 3.0.100 version:
-country specific filter not enableable (earlier version working)
-new filters (social, etc.) not enableable (only 4 default working in 88 filters)
-manual database update (update button) failed.
